Making Healthcare More Personal:

Evaluating WASP’s Impact on NHS Care Delivery

Personalised care puts people at the heart of their healthcare decisions, leading to better health outcomes and more efficient NHS services. Our research evaluates how NHS teams implement personalised care approaches after completing the Wessex Academy for Skills in Personalised Care (WASP) training programme.

Study Design We’re working with two groups of NHS teams across primary and secondary care:

Group 1: Learning from Experience

  • 4-6 teams who completed WASP training between 2020-2024
  • Teams participate in a 2-hour workshop sharing their implementation journey
  • Focus on understanding successful strategies and unexpected benefits

Group 2: Tracking Change in Real-Time

  • 3-5 teams undertaking WASP training in 2025
  • Online surveys at three key points: before training, immediately after, and 3 months later
  • In-depth interviews with selected participants to explore their experiences

Expected Outcomes This research will:

  • Identify effective strategies for implementing personalised care
  • Highlight practical solutions to common challenges
  • Improve future WASP training
  • Provide evidence for scaling successful approaches across the NHS

Making a Difference Understanding how teams successfully embed personalised care will help create healthcare services that truly respond to individual needs, leading to better outcomes for patients and more efficient use of NHS resources.
